Fertility & Gynecology

Over a period of time, Southern Gem Hospital has acquired a name for itself in the field of Fertility, in the country. We have been ranked in the top 5 fertility centres year on year by ET Health World & in 2019, Dr Sweta Agarwal was awarded with a National Hall of Fame award for her pioneering work in this field in the country.

Southern Gem fertility team keeps itself upto date with the latest developments in the field of fertility treatment happening across the world and is known to put it in practice.

Our fertility and gynaecology department is headed by Dr.Sweta Agarwal, MS (Obs & Gyn), FRANZCOG (Australia) and Masters in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (Australia). Dr.Sweta Agarwal is an internationally acclaimed expert on women’s health and reproductive medicine. She is assisted by a team of passionate and experienced doctors.

Backing up their passion and skill are matchless facilities at Southern Gem Hospital. A separate laparoscopic gynaecology operation theatre, Class 100 IVF operation theatre & IVF laboratory and an andrology laboratory, in addition to outpatient and inpatient facilities ensure that the very best is available at one place.

We even have PCPNDT and routinely offer PGD & PGS investigations on embryos for single gene disorders.

Southern Gem Hospital provides holistic care of women from adolescent girls (including cervical cancer vaccination, difficult initiation including medical and psychological issues around puberty, growth etc) to elderly women with concerns such as fibroids, uterine prolapse, cancers of the genitourinary tract and others. Our team thoroughly assesses and offers the best suited treatment.

Additionally, high risk obstetrics care is provided. This includes scenarios such as multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets etc), Pregnancy associated disorders such as PIH (Hypertension in pregnancy), GDM (Pregnancy associated Diabetes), APH (Bleeding), Jaundice, excess vomiting to name a few.

Fetal Medicine

Southern Gem boasts of its own fetal medicine department headed by Dr Ruchita Poddar, DNB (Radiology) Fellowship in Fetal Medicine. This department assesses the growth and progress of the baby while in uterus. They are adept at identifying medical and surgical problems in the fetus (baby in uterus) through ultrasound. This gives a chance to discuss and prepare families about expected outcome at birth and also allows the newborn specialist doctor to be prepared and plan the treatment of the baby post delivery instead of problems coming as surprise.

Apart from identifying problems, certain interventions are done while the baby is still in the uterus such as blood sampling, blood transfusion, CVS, Amniocentesis, fetal reduction, laser ablation which are done to identify and treat conditions of babies in the uterus.

Neonatology and Pediatrics

Every child born is a blessing of God. However, some blessings need additional care & support. Southern Gem Hospital has been well recognised for its superior tertiary care newborn ICU catering to babies born as early as 24-25 week pregnancy.

Neonatology and Pediatrics team is headed by Dr.Nitesh Agarwal, MD (Paeds), FAMS, FRACP – Neonatal Perinatal Medicine (Australia). His extensive knowledge and expertise has helped save many infants lives. From saving premature babies born as early as at 24 weeks (5 ½ months pregnancy) to curing complications in just born infants, Dr.Nitesh Agarwal has earned national and international acclaim from peers and institutions alike.

The hospital offers all general paediatric services such as outpatients, vaccines and inpatient facility for level 2 PICU and well appointed rooms. A host of visiting superspecialists are attached to the hospital offering their services. These include pediatric surgery, cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, nephrology, endocrinology among others.
